Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve really posted any content on here. I’ve been super busy with all the changes happening in my life lately. Luckily since all these changes are occurring, I will have a lot more new topics and life experiences to share with you.
Lets start off with the topic of health!
I made the decision to stop with the vegetarian diet I was maintaining, I lasted a whole month. Which I thought was a great experience, I feel like it cleared my system out and I got to learn so much from it. Now that I am once again eating meat, I can see the effects from it. My skin has started breaking out around my chin/jaw area once again ( I’m guessing from the hormones). Other then that everything is still the same!
I have also signed myself up at a local gym! I finally did it! I’ve been going five days a week and giving myself two resting days. I was pretty nervous about it at first because I had no clue how the equipment worked but I’m getting the hang of it. I’ve been doing a combination of weights and cardio. I try to focus on a different section each time I go ( arms, legs, tummy, etc.) and about 15-20 minutes of cardio afterwards. My body is definitely not used to it, I’ve been sore for weeks but it will be worth it in the end.
I have also changed up my diet, I started calorie counting! Boy was that an eye opener, I didn’t realise how much I was over eating. I am using MyFitnessPal, it’s a free downloadable app that tracks everything. I determined that for my age, height and weight I should be consuming 1,200 calories if I want to lose weight. The thing I like about the app is that it tells you when you’ve reached your protein goals, if you’ve gone over your recommended sugar intake and what vitamins/minerals the food is high in. I have cut out most sugars (only sugar I get is from fresh fruits) so no more juices. I’ve been drinking so much water, which is shocking since I would rarely ever drink water. If I find myself getting bored of it I spice it up with some fresh cut lemon, it also helps suppress my hunger at times. I do still drink coffee but I’ve cut back to just once in the morning and again with soy creamer. I have also started meal planning for the whole week as well! all our meals are home cooked.. no more instant foods or fast food. We always have a healthy lunch to take with us to work, which helps out money wise. My life has been consumed with going to the gym, making healthy meals and constantly researching/watching health videos. I’ve been debating trying a Ketogenic diet but I’m still unsure about it (I’ve been watching videos like crazy about it!). Overall I can see small changes happening currently to my body after about two and a half weeks of constantly going (sometimes even twice a day) to the gym. My arms and legs mostly, I know it’s dependent on my diet so it will take some time to lose the fat in areas that I desire. Just thought I’d share that with everyone since I’ve been super excited about it!
If you guys are experienced with or have any info about the ketogenic diet please feel free to leave a comment, I would love any input! 🙂
Another stressful thing that has happened lately was our little Vivi getting fixed!
I had a pretty stressful time with him getting fixed. It was very last minute and we were not prepared for it. With out work schedule it was pretty hectic, I was stressed a couple times because we had to leave him alone for 8 or so hours. I did purchase a velcro fabric cone from the vet just so he couldn’t get at his junk, they told me if he could get out of it then he’s a Houdini. Well the first day we had to leave him alone (for work), I came home to Vivi without the cone on! he somehow managed to get out of it. That had me nervous the next day when I again had to leave for work. I forgot to mention when I brought him home our other cat (Winston) completely freaked out! he was hissing and growling at Vivi like crazy. He was either going towards his head and swatting at him or trying to go towards his bum area. Let’s just say most stressful night I have had in a while! I felt so bad for the little guy, he was all groggy from the surgery and medication. I did not like the experience at all :S
It’s about day 6 or 7 now since his surgery, we are now letting him walk around without the cone and he’s loving it! I feel like he’s a totally different cat now. He usually just did his own thing and didn’t need attention from us. Now he’s the complete opposite! He follows you around everywhere and snuggles like crazy! and he hates it when your in different rooms, he freaks out on me when I close any doors.
I also decided to change up my hair a bit! Last time I got my hair done I spent hundreds of dollars on it at a professional hair salon. I went from blonde ends to a light brown. Well the colour faded extremely quickly! After a month or two it was back to blonde again. I dreaded taking pictures since my natural colour was brown and then the ends were just a horrible blonde shade. It just didn’t look good at all so I decided to change things. This time I did it by myself and saved a lot of money! If it does fade a bit, I can easily run to a store and just reapply some dye for about $12. I went with a chocolate brown shade this time around. I was a bit nervous going this dark but I’m glad I did! It makes my eye colour just pop.
That’s pretty much it for now! Check back soon because I will be posting some new content. I’m thinking more recipes, meal preps, supplement reviews and personal exciting experiences! Thanks for reading 🙂
